| I was on Oly as an OS from Aug 84 until Feb 87. I am interested in re-establishing contact with any shipmates - especially those from OI Division. Especially interested in finding Sam Vance, Larry Sharp or Don Bennett.

Iwas there April 86-April 88. (then DS2 Mendiola from CE Division). Larry and I commissioned as a CWO together in 01. He is currently assigned in IRAQ with the Multi-National Security Transition Command. He can be reached at larry.sharp@navy.mil I hope this helps.

I was assigned to CE Division as LCPO from Sep '84 till June '86. Braswell, Dunlop and Ron Myers were my usual shipmates with whom I enjoyed some excellent WestPac Liberty!

| I was onboard the Oly from 84 - 87. RM2 Jim Schaffer from OC division. Seems like a lifetime ago. Memories that stand out most would have to be pulling into Sydney for RAN 75th anniversary and having that protestor hanging on to the bow as we pulled in. Then of course there was the infamous trip to Quing Dao, China along with the Reeves and the Rentz. Remember the basketball team we put together getting their a**es handed to them by what was believed to be the back-up Olympic squad from China? Ops officer had us chanting U-S-A in the stands. I could go on and on....

Jim!
Had a blast. Oly was the best tour of my career.
RM1 Aaron Winter (Hank). Recall going into the PI a few times but don't remember leaving.
Good to see this site!

Aaron Winter!! How the hell are you? Last time I saw you was in the early 90's (Pax River Airshow).
What an appropriate statement about not recalling leaving the PI. Remember quarters on the fantail 'the morning after' a looooong night of partying?? Holy S--t it was flippin' hot and muggy there!

| Seaman-Seaman checking in here. I was on board 84 - 87. Many PACs, first ship to China after 38 years, nuclear protester riding the bow on a surfboard while pulling in to Sydney for their Navy's 75th aniversary, and so on.

| Thomas Moore - Sonar - was one a group from the Kirk FF-1087 that joined her when she came to Yokosuka. I'm heartbroken they sank her. I've been searching for pictures or videos of her last moments.

Hi everybody. I checked onboard the Oly 2 weeks after it arrived in Japan for the port shift. I was then FTM3 Andy "Wojo" Wajvoda. I worked on the MK86 System and fired the 5 inch guns. I think the division I was in was called CG.
My first couple of years on Oly were great since we seemed to spend a lot of time in the P.I. and Korea. I extended for a year and really hated it, since I think we only hit one no Japans port that entire year. That was the year we sailed around Japan and went port hopping. I got to go to both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, along with a bunch of other ports.
One port was so small only a barge of personnel went on liberty for about 4 hours while the Captain played golf I think.
I was onboard from about Sep84 to Oct87.
I ended up retiring from the Navy as a Chief in 2003.
